Bank statements are loaded into a database. The routine checks whether each cash movement exists in the books (journal and ledger), by date and amount, and flags gaps.
The output is not “the sample passed”. It is an objective index of how fully treasury is reflected in the accounts — every record, not a fraction of them.
When a statement is not searchable, the method converts the PDF to text and builds the dataset for automated matching.
The next step is to test whether each entry was posted to the correct general-ledger account — not only whether it exists.
